About my classroom
Early Childhood Development, Infant Education
Our room holds 20 slots, currently 19 of which are filled. We have infants ages 6 weeks – 14 months. This is a period of significant development in early childhood, and much of our time is dedicated to child-centered learning and development through play. We utilize sensory experiences to guide children through motor, emotional, social, and language development. Our center utilizes the Reggio Emilia theory of education for young children. This theory is founded in the concepts of respect and responsibility, as well as community through the discovery and exploration of a supportive environment. We utilize a constructivist learning theory, and work with families to create a home-school connection of growth.
As part of our approach, student work and art must be considered from the perspective of the infants. Pictured to the left, you can see an example of a paper experience from "Bug Week" where we discussed and learned about different bugs. The collaborative student artwork is a depiction of a lady bug from the perspective of the infants, red color with black dots. |
