My Life as a Ballet DancerI began ballet at the age of 3 at Marin Dance Theatre in San Rafael, CA. I trained here until the age of 18 under the direction of Margaret Swarthout and Lynn Cox. During my time at MDT, I was fortunate to have performed several roles including "Sophie" and "Valentina Ballerina" in Lynn Cox's "Sophie and the Enchanted Toyshop" and "Kitri" in MDT's excerpts from Don Quixote. Ballet quickly became my life as I grew through MDT, learning to teach under the direction of MDT's Vicki Marie Bassing. After graduating MDT, I moved to Pittsburgh, PA to train in the Graduate Program at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Upon the completion of my two years here, I took a faculty position teaching for PBT's children's, student, pre-professional, and community divisions in addition to PBT's education department.
